Blessed Pope John Paul and the Divine Mercy

I just found out, a few days ago, that a copy of the Diary of St. Faustina was placed in Blessed John Paul's coffin along with a brief summary of his life (as is customary) and, I believe, a copy of his last public address. I don't know if this address was ever given because someone else would have needed to read it. It was composed the day he died. In that Apostolic Address, which is very short, the dying Pope spoke of the need of the whole world to know of the message of Divine Mercy. He prayed the invocation connected with the icon of mercy; "Jesus I trust in you" and asked God to "have mercy on the whole world". Perhaps his beatification will encourage many to seek out a copy of St. Faustina's diary. His pontificate cannot be properly understood and appreciated without an awareness of these prophetic writings.

  2. Reported today in Rome by one of the bloggers there for the Meeting tomorrow-

"Saint Faustina, pray for us” sings a group of American students perched in a corner of the Via della Conciliazione, the main avenue leading up to St Peter’s Square".

Based on Blessed John Paul's devotion it looks like the message of Divine Mercy and the Diary should be required reading.

Someone who seemed to have little time for mystics, particularly female ones,is offering today leaflets on the Divine Mercy message.
    What next I wonder!
