The Holy Father has named St. Joseph the Patron of the New Evangelisation. Presumably this means he will have a key role in the forthcoming Year of Faith. He has already been especially connected with Vatican 11 (by Pope John XX111) and the priesthood (The Year of the Priest). Hopefully this latest initiative will see a further flowering of devotion to this now neglected saint. St. Joseph deserves (by God's grace) his proper place in Christian devotion and spirituality.
"Amen" to what you have written, Father. For one who had such a vital role in the formative years of the Saviour, Saint Joseph has indeed been neglected.
ReplyDeleteIn my work with Worldwide Marriage Encounter, and in my general preaching, I keep reminding people that the Church honours St Joseph above all as the Husband of Mary.
