The Anglican "Communion" is like a body that is slowly dying
How long can these death throes go on? The Covenant which was supposed to protect what unity the Anglican Churches had left has been rejected (read here) by the Church of England and has not been ratified by other Churches elsewhere. There seems little likelihood of Rowan Williams' successor being able to do much to heal the wounds. If we were to really liken it to a human body it would be one that is dying in fits and starts, losing blood now and then, weakened internally, with a heart pumping furiously to keep everything alive and working. It is a critical time. The patient may not pull through.
