At the start of a new year, something to ponder - Our Lady of Kibeho

I remember hearing about the apparitions of Our Lady at Kibeho, Rwanda, some years ago. I was disposed to accept them as genuine from the start for the simple reason that I knew the parish priest - a member of the Marian Movement of Priests, and a careful and prayerful man for whom I had great respect. I was once on pilgrimage with him in Rome and Assisi and saw something that made me think that this man was special.

The paragraph below was taken from the Youtube site of the video.
I have two books by Immaculee Ilibagiza. At the moment I am reading about the young visionary (a boy) who had meetings with Christ - meetings which the commission which met to investigate the apparitions believe to be genuine. I shall be posting about this later.

The Blessed Virgin Mary appeared in Kibeho, Rwanda from 1981-89. She brought many beautiful messages to the visionaries, but one day she brought a warning that shocked everyone. She told a crowd of over 25,000 that a "river of blood" was coming to their country if they did not listen. She begged them to love, forgive, & honor each others differences or a bad thing would happen. 12 years later, the terrible genocide came to Rwanda. Mary's prediction and warning came true. This is one of the many things that the Catholic Church used to prove that these apparitions were real and the Vatican approved Kibeho in 2001. Immaculee Ilibagiza is a Rwandan genocide survivor who now resides in the United States. Her N.Y. Times Best Selling book, Left to Tell is being made into a movie by famed Passion of the Christ Producer, Steve McEveety. Immaculee speaks around the country about her story of forgiveness, and also devotes special weekends to retreats about Our Lady of Kibeho, so that we can hear the messages of Our Lady and avoid the same warnings that she brought about Rwanda. The Blessed Mother specifically said that she "was coming for the whole world, not just Rwanda or Kibeho." She wants us all to heed these warnings. Go to www.Immaculee.com for more information on this or joining one of her wonderful weekend retreats about Our Lady.
