Truth is not decided by numbers

This report should remind us that Truth is not decided or authenticated by numbers. Why is it that people constantly make this mistake? So, over 700 North American clergy are in favour of gay "marriage" (should clergy be in inverted commas?). There was a time when almost the whole of the Church was Arian! At one time it looked as though there was hardly anyone in opposition except St. Athanasius, St. Anthony of Egypt and one or two others. St. Athanasius is especially important here. Looking at the Church(es) in the U.S. I am led to think that their Government's attempts to stave off the coming crash is even less likely to succeed when so much that has happened - and continues to happen - there is looking more and more like the "great city" of the Apocalypse.

Truth is not decided by vote, marches, petitions, mass indoctrination, threats, enforced labour, torture or persecution. It is not authenticated by media personalities, popular writing, the press or sentimentality. Tears are shed, hands wrung, arms raised in celebration (as they were at the Anglican Synod vote on women priests), but none of these things mean that anyone is in the right. Truth is a given, to be discovered and declared, not something to be invented, interpreted into a different shape or blessed by fashion. Truth is holy and abides - it cannot be destroyed.
There is no such thing as, "truth for me - or you" - there is truth. The assault against Truth is an assault against God. Those who marched in favour of gay "marriage" are processing to their own destruction.

  1. Is that Fr Ronald Rollheiser on the right of that photo? What's the photo of?

  2. This is a photo of some clergy who walked in procession in New York when there was a possibility of same-sex marriages being authorized. It took place in July I think. I understand that these are NOT RC priests but Episcopalians.

  3. No, it can't be Fr Rollheiser then - I thought it was an old photo. Thank you for replying!
