Great Catholic historian, Dr Warren H Carroll RIP

Dr Warren H Carroll, the founding president of Christendom College has died. He is an interesting man as you can read here. He was a historian who sought the truth, and for him this meant recognising the hand of Divine Providence in world events. He dealt with some controversial subjects such as the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution and the Spanish Civil War. Writing as a devout Catholic, he did not whitewash his Catholic heroes and heroines but sought to tell the truth as far as he could. There are some aspects of the Spanish Civil War that might not be known but for him. Similarly, the despicable aspects of the French Revolution and the truth about Marie Antoinette also need to be more widely known and can be found in his writings.

A remarkable man and a great scholar. May he rest in peace.

  1. Thank you Father for this post. I had never read about him, so I now know something helpful and new
. Since converting to Catholicism which I have never regretted and think I should have done earlier, and despite all the "dickipoggy" (Heckmonwike yiddish) that has come to light in the past few years, I have very confidence, reading your last posts, that "ALL SHALL BE WELL"
    as MOTHER JULIAN tells us.
