The Immaculate Heart of Mary

There may be some who know about the apparitions at Fatima (1917) but may not know that Our Lord Jesus Christ specifically asked for devotion to The Immaculate Heart of Mary. According to the late Sr. Lucy (Lucia Santos) Our Lord appeared to her reminding her of what happened in France. This was a reference to the invitation, given through St. Margaret Mary, to the King to consecrate France to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. It was not done, and it is no coincidence that The Sacred Heart became so important at the time of the Terror. On the death certificate of the 13 Carmelite Sisters who were guillotined, the second offence is, "Devotion to The Sacred Heart". There is more to be said on that, but the point here is that it seems that Our Lord was impressing upon us the importance of this particular devotion to His Mother.

When Sr. Lucy was a Dorothean nun in Tuy, we are told that Jesus appeared to her as a little boy outside the convent gates. She did not recognise Him. As she was asking Him what He was doing there and telling Him that He should go home to His mother (!), He asked her why she was doing so little to promote devotion to His Mother's Immaculate Heart!

Devotion to the heart of Mary has been encouraged through the Marian Movement of Priests. The inspired writings of Fr. Stefano Gobbi clearly show that this devotion is of great historical significance. It is not just another devotion, but has its place in God's plan for our time.
